Kitchen Aide & Sanitation

About this role

Food Preparation & Meal Service: -Prepare, package and assist with distribution of meals according to approved menus, nutritional guidelines and established schedules including Meals on Wheels, pickup by 10:30 a.m. -Assist with congregate meal service. -Provide input on recipes and meals. Food Safety & Kitchen Operations: -Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal protective equipment requirements. -Assist with monitoring and documenting food temperatures, storage areas, coolers, freezers, deliveries and equipment maintenance needs. -Maintain food and supply inventory by labeling, dating, rotating (FIFO), and organizing stock. -Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen by cleaning, descaling and performing chemical maintenance on equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas. Teamwork & Program Support: -Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers while maintaining confidentiality and promoting a respectful, professional work environment. -Complete facility monthly air vent filter changes. -Perform additional duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications: -High school diploma or equivalent. -One or more years of experience preparing high-volume meals in a commercial, institutional, healthcare, school, or nonprofit food service setting preferred. -Current or eligible to obtain a Texas Food Handler Certification. -Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and FIFO inventory practices. -Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment. -Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. -Excellent communication and teamwork skills. -Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. -Experience working with older adults or in a Meals on Wheels/senior nutrition program preferred.
